Budget for the bond
Most rentals ask for 4 weeks rent as a bond plus 2 weeks upfront. Student accommodation usually asks for a smaller deposit.
Get it in writing
Always sign a lease or residency agreement. A verbal deal gives you almost nothing if things go wrong.
Never pay before you inspect
If someone asks for money before you have seen the place or met the agent, it is very likely a scam. Walk away.
Share houses save the most
Sharing with housemates is usually far cheaper than a studio, and it is the fastest way to make friends when you land.
